Booking and registration
How do I book an activity?
Do not hesitate to consult all our activities on the dedicated page or contact us directly by phone at +33 6 71 62 23 38 or by email at info@mountain-guide-adventure.com specifying the desired activity, the dates and the number of participants. We will then send you a registration form to complete and will indicate the procedure for the payment of the deposit that will confirm your reservation.
Can I register alone?
Yes, you can register alone. We offer two options: either you join an existing group course (subject to availability and level compatibility), or you opt for a private engagement with a guide. We can also try to form a group by connecting people who want to do the same activity.
What is the reservation deadline?
We advise you to book your internship at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance, especially for busy periods (school holidays, extended weekends). For some popular races such as Mont-Blanc or certain highly requested periods, a reservation 2 to 3 months in advance is recommended. Last-minute bookings are still possible depending on availability.
How do I confirm my reservation?
Your reservation is confirmed upon receipt of your completed registration form and the payment of the deposit of 30% of the total amount. You will then receive a confirmation email with all the practical details concerning your internship (meeting place, schedule, list of recommended equipment). The balance will be paid directly to the guide on the first day of the course.
Will I get a confirmation?
Yes, after receiving your registration and your deposit, we will systematically send you a confirmation email detailing your course (dates, meeting place, guide contact details, required equipment). A few days before the course, the guide will also contact you to confirm the latest details and inform you of the current conditions.
Gears and equipment
What equipment is provided?
We provide technical safety equipment specific to each activity: helmet, harness, harness, ice ax, crampons, DVA (avalanche victim detector), shovel and probe for ski touring. Personal equipment (clothing, boots, skis, etc.) remains at your expense. A detailed list of the required equipment is visible in each internship sheet.
Is it possible to rent the missing equipment?
Yes, it is possible to rent the missing technical equipment in specialized stores in Chamonix or La Clusaz. We can recommend trusted partners who offer quality equipment at preferential rates for our customers. It is best to let us know your equipment needs when you book.
Level & preparation
How do I assess my level?
To assess your level, use our scale (beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert) detailed in the internship descriptions. Consider your previous experience in the activity, your general physical condition, and how comfortable you are in a mountain environment. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to contact us for a more precise exchange that will allow us to guide you to the most suitable internship.
What physical preparation is needed?
A good general physical condition is recommended to take full advantage of your internship. For activities such as ski touring or mountaineering, it is advisable to practice endurance sports regularly (running, cycling, swimming) during the weeks prior to your stay. The ability to walk for several hours with a lightweight backpack is a good indicator for most activities.
Can I do an course if I am just starting out?
Absolutely! We offer courses specifically designed for beginners in each discipline. These introductory courses will allow you to acquire the technical bases and essential knowledge in complete safety. Our guides are trained to adapt their teaching at all levels and to support you progressively in your learning.
Are the courses adapted to children?
Some of our activities are suitable for children from 8 years old, including cliff climbing, some hikes and initiations. Other more technical activities such as mountaineering or ski touring are generally accessible from the age of 14-16, depending on the maturity and physical condition of the child. Do not hesitate to contact us for personalized recommendations.
Weather conditions & safety
What happens in case of bad weather?
As safety is our top priority, the guide may need to change the program or itinerary depending on weather conditions. If the conditions are too bad to practice the activity safely, the guide may decide to cancel the trip. In this case, we will offer you either a deferral or a full refund of your deposit.
Are courses offered all year round?
Yes, we offer activities throughout the year, adapted to the seasons. In winter, we prefer ski touring, backcountry skiing and ice climbing. In spring and summer, mountaineering and climbing are on the program. Each activity is offered in its optimal period.
Rates & payment
How do I pay for my course?
You can pay the deposit by bank transfer, PayPal, or check payable to Mountain Guide Adventure. The balance is payable directly to the guide on the first day of the course, preferably in cash or by check. The bank details for the transfer will be given to you when you register.
When should I pay the deposit and the balance?
The deposit (30% of the total amount) must be paid at the time of registration to confirm your reservation. The balance is payable directly to the guide on the first day of the course, in cash or by check. For certain specific services such as shipments, the balance may be requested up to one month before departure.
Are there group rates?
Yes, we offer discounted rates for groups. Starting with 3 people, the price per person decreases gradually. For groups of 6 people or more, substantial discounts are applied. Contact us directly to get a personalized quote adapted to the size of your group and the desired activity.
What is included in the price?
The price of our courses includes the guide's fees, the loan of some of the technical equipment (helmet, harness, ice ax depending on the activities) and supervision by a certified UIAGM High Mountain Guide. Not included: accommodation, meals, ski lifts, transfers, personal equipment and individual insurance.
Cancellation & rescheduling
Can I cancel my reservation?
Yes, you can cancel your reservation according to our conditions. For any cancellation made more than 15 days before the start of the course, the deposit may be carried over to another date. On the other hand, for a cancellation less than 15 days before the start of the course, we will keep the deposit paid, except in the event of a health problem justified by a medical certificate.
What are the cancellation conditions?
If you cancel your course more than 15 days before it starts, the deposit can be carried over to another service. For a cancellation less than 15 days, the deposit will be retained except in cases of force majeure (medical certificate). In case of cancellation by the guide for weather or safety reasons, we will offer you a deferral or a full refund.
Can I postpone my course?
Yes, you can postpone your course to another date subject to availability. For a deferral requested more than 15 days before the scheduled date, no charge will be applied. For a delay of less than 15 days, administrative fees may apply depending on the case. Contact us as soon as possible to organize this change.
What happens if the guide cancels?
If your course is cancelled by the guide due to bad weather conditions or an insufficient number of participants, we will first suggest that you postpone your stay to another date. If no date is suitable, we will give you a full refund of the deposit paid. The guide is the only one who can make this decision for safety reasons.
Offer a gift voucher
What is the validity period?
Mountain Guide Adventure gift vouchers are valid for 18 months from the date of purchase. This period gives you enough time to choose the ideal time, especially according to the seasons and the optimal conditions for each activity. The validity date is clearly indicated on the check.
Can I personalize the message?
Yes, you can completely personalize the message that comes with your gift voucher. When ordering, let us know what text you want to add and we'll incorporate it into the presentation. It's a great way to make the gift even more personal and memorable for the recipient.
How does the payee use the check?
The recipient of the gift voucher must simply contact us by email at info@mountain-guide-adventure.com or by phone at +33 6 71 62 23 38 by mentioning the reference number indicated on the check. Our team will then help him choose and book the internship that suits him. The gift voucher will be directly deducted from the total amount of the service upon payment.
Is the check refundable?
No, the gift voucher is not refundable in cash. However, it is valid for the duration of its validity and can be used for any activity offered by Mountain Guide Adventure. If the beneficiary wishes to change activity after a first reservation, this is still possible subject to availability and within the limit of the value of the check.
What happens if the internship is more expensive?
If the final cost of the course is greater than the amount initially indicated on the gift voucher, the beneficiary can pay the difference directly to the guide on the day of the course. This difference may occur due to a change in the formula, the addition of additional options, or a change in the program. Our objective remains to offer you the best possible experience while remaining flexible on your wishes.
