This day is for people who want to take their first steps in mountaineering by discovering glacier hiking in the Mont Blanc Massif for one day. This practice is accessible to everyone, you can even come with your family (children aged 12 and over accepted)
During this day we will see how:
- Progress on a roped glacier with crampons and ice axe
- Master the basic techniques of crevice rescue

Sébastien Laurent
A mountain guide for over 25 years, Sébastien combines technical expertise and pedagogy. Trained in alpine geography and a veteran of international expeditions, he accompanies you in French, English and Spanish towards your mountain goals.

Day “Glacier hike on the Mer de Glacet and introduction to ice climbing”
Ascent from Chamonix by cogwheel train to Montenvers (1909m). Then go down on foot to the Mer de Glace using ladders. Equipping crampons and ice axes and roping up participants on the glacier. Hike and cross the Glacier to reach huge ice “stairs” on which the guide will introduce you to ice climbing techniques. Then back on the Mer de Glace and ascent to Montenvers.
Day “Crossing the White Valley”
Ascend from Chamonix by cable car to the Aiguille du Midi (3842m). Then descent with crampons and ice axes on the Glacier that you will cross in the direction of Hellbronner. Magnificent landscapes. Back to Chamonix at the end of the day after a memorable day.

This price includes the service of the Guide, the loan of a harness, a helmet and the A/R either by cog train (for the Hike on the Mer de Glace and the introduction to ice climbing) or the A/R to the Aiguille du Midi cable car (for the Crossing of the White Valley). (count in addition 22 euros for equipment rental: cramponable shoes, crampons and ice axes for the day).
